    Giambi loses endorsement deal

Jason Giambi no longer has an endorsement deal with Nike.

A Nike spokesman on Thursday confirmed that the shoe and apparel company ended its nine-year relationship with the New York Yankees' slumping slugger.

Nike did not say if the move was related to Giambi's reported admission of steroid use or his poor play.

``We never release details of our contractual arrangements,'' Nike spokesman Rodney Knox told The Associated Press. ``He was with us for nine seasons and we wish him the best.''

The termination of the deal was first reported by ESPN.com. Now Giambi is wearing a pair of Mizuno spikes given to him by teammate Hideki Matsui

Poor Jason, how is he going to survive on his paltry salary alone?

Whatever. He should be in prison for robbing the Yankees of the salary he is collecting and all of his endorsements.

    He needs to be released!!!

I blame the Yankees and specifically George. It was obvious the guy was doing steroids but george fell in love w/ him and instead of keeping Tino he went out and paid too much for Giambi.

George is sure reaping the benefits now, isnt he.

I still like the guy, but it was the best move for Nike. Giambi just isn't what he was with the roids.
