Hank Steinbrenner Speaks Out Against Rays

Hank Steinbrenner decided he would become vocal in the ongoing controversy with the Tampa Bay (Devil) Rays. This time, he went after not only the Rays, but other small-market, less monetarily well-off teams.

He said

I don't want these teams in general to forget who subsidizes a lot of them, and it's the Yankees, the Red Sox, Dodgers, Mets. I would prefer if teams want to target the Yankees that they at least start giving some of that revenue sharing and luxury tax money back. From an owner's point of view, that's my point.

I couldn't agree more. He's almost better entertainment than the games themselves. Especially in spring training. He's hilarious. It's impossible to take anything he says seriously anymore.

He's 100% correct. These small market teams always whine about the Yankees EXCEPT when they come to their Stadium and they fill it and when they get the checks. Many of them do not even put that money back into their teams.

It's funny that Larry Dolan (who's yet another small market team whiner) probably gets revenue sharing checks from the Yankees, while his cousin Charles has been the biggest giver of the luxury tax in the NBA.

I personally have no problem with the Yankees. At least the money made off of them is reinvested into the team, unlike in some places.

However, Hank needs to just shut the eff up. His first year in charge, and he's already starting to lose credibility amongst fans and probally other owners.

What Hank said has absolutely nothing to do with the Yankees bush league tactics. The Yankees future isn't looking bright with Hank in charge I must say.
