Notice I said spring and not 3 ABs? You want to push my buttons yes please pick an actor over a ballplayer.
    Normally, I'd agree.

But the thing is, they plan out who's going on what road trips, who's getting at bats when and where, and something tells me this isn't a "hey, let's steal at bats from some kid," but rather a "hey, we have an extra spot that we need to give so and so a day off. Let's let Billy Crystal do that thing for charity he contacted us about, and give whomever a break."

The Yankees are actually organized you know.

Are you ****ing kidding me? I guess this fits since Girardi has already accused the Rays for playing too hard when a guy ran over his catcher. If he doesn't want to play hard, play Billy Crystal. Guys want and need playing time and do not need some ****ing comedian taking playing time this late in spring training. Let Billy call the game in the booth or anything else but don't let him take someone's spot who needs it and craves it.
I'm sure nobody's development is going to be drastically impeded because he misses one game.

I could, it's only one game.

I don't necessarily think it's a good thing. I just don't think it's the big deal that you apparently do.

Handing out free bobble heads to the fans doesn't help his career either.

If we're going to say something is stupid just because it doesn't help then we have a lot of stuff to abolish.

Again, it's just one game. I'm sure the AA player will have plenty of other opportunities to prove himself.

Spring training is all about competition for the young studs and veterans trying to squeeze in one more year. And secondly, it is about getting your timing down and your glove loose.

Yeah, it is a funny story and Hollywood would love it. But it truly takes away ABs from whomever he is penciled in for.
Do you think Jay Bruce's development would be impeded if he missed one spring training game?

I'm sure he's not playing in all of them anyways.

    In closing,

How do you know Crystal's not taking Hideki Matsui's spot?

Does he really need that extra ST at bat or two?

Why does it have to be drastic? Point is the guy isn't getting ABs this late in the spring when pitchers are getting better. Utterly pointless!

Bullshit you could if it meant making a big league club or not. Don't kid yourself because you sure aren't kidding me.

What about bobble head dolls? That doesn't make any sense! If you somehow think Billy Crystal playing over a deserving player is smart, then we have a problem!! It is a dumb circumstance! Want to see Billy Crystal, rent a ****ing movie like everyone else. Fans don't want to see that shit and it isn't what they are paying out the ass to see.

Matsui needs his ABs too! He is coming off knee surgery! Point is Matsui is deserving of ST ABs, Crystal isn't.

I'm sorry if I have a problem with it but I do. No way should any ****ing celebrity take the place of a bonafide ballplayer who is under contract and is trying to make a name for himself especially this late into the spring. Not one of you would let this shit stand if it were your ABs being taken away. If you say you would I would call you a liar because that's just not how competitors act.

The level at which it will affect anyone's development is negligible, and therefore not worth complaining about.

1 or 2 ABs isn't going to be the difference, though.
