    Yanks Rumored to Get Abreu

    This from MLB.com

PHILADELPHIA -- It appears that Bobby Abreu's final day with the Phillies has arrived.

Minutes before the start of Philadelphia's doubleheader against the Marlins, the team announced a change in the starting lineup. Abreu, who had been in the lineup batting third and playing right field, was replaced.
Abreu's next appearance in a baseball uniform will likely come with the New York Yankees. The team was believed to have offered a package of prospects headed by former first-round draft pick C.J. Henry for Abreu and possibly Cory Lidle or Jon Lieber. The teams had been talking extensively through the weekend. No official statement has been made.
How do Yankee fans feel about this? I know Matsui and Shef have been hurt so it helps in that respect. I don't know about the prospect. Is he very good?

Just a curiousity question for the Yankee fans.

    1) What are they going to do with Matsui when he comes back if they have Abreu, or is Matsui supposed to be out for the season?

theres a post going in the rumors forum... its abreu/lidle for henry/smith/ptbnl

henry was our 1st pick in 05, as far as i know hes got tons of speed, and the yanks were toying with moving him to center... we'll see what philly does. matt smith was the lefty that was up with the big club for bits and pieces this year. the ptbnl is gonna come from a predetermined list... hughes, tabata, probably duncan will all be staying put.

When Matsui comes back, they'll tell Melky Cabrera to suck some dong and throw him to the bench, and finally get a respectable bench.

matsui would be the left fielder, damon in center, abreu in right. the one this deal effects is sheffield. if he comes back... then hes probably the dh, with giambi at first and andy phillips meeting the bench. even if he comes back this year, he likely wont be back in 07.

I would let Sheffiled go next year. Matsui is more verstile and his numbers are similiar to Sheffields and that frees up some $$$$.

It's Lidle and Abreu according to YES.

Sheffield will be gone after this year.

The bigger acquisition is Lidle, providing innings and solid pitching. And if all we give up is henry and matt smith this is a ****ing steal......

This puts Sheffield out for next year which will piss him off this year.
