According to this article the Gold Glove voters got a lot of choices wrong, so it's hard to single out one of them. He probably deserved it, but when he's going up against a previously very good defensive first baseman who is a monster with the bat, it's gonna be hard to dethrone. Sucks that's the way it is, but we've all known for a while Gold Gloves are like that

If I had a vote I would have voted for Ike but Pujols wasn't a terrible choice. My big beef is that this is one of Albert's worst years at first (still good) and got looked over in years past.

Clearly, having seen the GG and SS votes by now, the managers and players should NOT be voting for these awards if we want them to be meaningful. Ike probably deserved the GG, Jeter didn't deserve his, and Pujols did get outperformed for the SS by Votto. I honestly didn't expect Ike to be seriously considered because of a) youth, b) lack of name recognition, and c) until I read this article, I'm not sure I noticed how much better Ike was than other first basemen.

I don't think Pujols was a poor choice, just curious about everyone else's thoughts.

I don't see how Davis didn't get recognized. Seems like he was on Web Gems every other day. I remember his first two weeks in the league he had three impressive catches falling into the dugout.

Yeah, he had those plays at the dugout railing early on, but I guess having been through Mo Vaughn and Carlos Delgado, I took Davis' defense for granted. I think after a month or so, I assumed that that was what an average first baseman was like defensively. If he was on Web Gems more often than I realized, then I'm wrong, but I thought he got on for those railing flips, and then kinda slunk back into just making all the plays he was supposed to. Granted, I didn't watch any baseball tonight this season.
