Mets Mets @ Trade Deadline = Epic fail

Michael Salfino of SNY thinks the Mets should have made a move or two at the deadline. "The frustrating thing for Mets fans," Salfino writes, "is that catcher Victor Martinez was there for the taking. The cost reportedly was one of two Double-A pitchers Brad Holt or Jenrry Mejia plus Jon Niese."
If that was the cost.......I think they should fire Omar Minaya right now.

I disagree. These two guys have made HUGE strides this season, both making baseball america's top 50 prospects list.

HOLT, MEJIA AMAZIN' PROSPECTS - New York Post

Just some reading material for those of you that don't know about Holt or Mejia. Both are big time risers, and should definitely be top prospects on every list next season. I'm not sure I'd give one of them plus Niese for Martinez....a) not sure if Martinez would hit as well at Citi, b) not sure he'd wanna be in NY, and might not re-sign, and c) he's a 30 year old catcher....the decline should be approaching.
