    Injury Pelfrey has Tendonitis

Mets' Pelfrey diagnosed with tendinitis - SweetSpot by Rob Neyer - ESPN

According to ESPN, Pelfrey has forearm tendonitis. This could explain his difficulty throwing breaking pitches and changeups. Hopefully this gets better quick, and he can get back to form. Pelf says he gets this once per year, and it usually goes away within 2 weeks. Hopefully he's right.

Big blow to an already thin rotation. Any word on who is taking his place?

He said he would be able to pitch through it. Jerry Manuel said if they had to, they'd call someone up from the minors....my guess would be either Jon Niese, Freddy Garcia(who apparently is looking better in extended Spring Training), or Tim Redding if his shoulder is ready.

Is he even going on the DL or is he going to fight through it?

As of now, he's not going on the DL. They hope to avoid it. I do too...

If I were them, I wouldn't push it this early in the season. Put him on the DL, let him heal, and avoid anything lingering or getting worse

We'll see. If it's just tendonitis it probably won't go away anyway, it would just be a matter of if he can throw his breaking balls/changeup yet.

The Red Sox saying that about Dice-K led to that horrible start yesterday, I'm not sure if a DL stint helps but maybe its not a bad idea

Not if it ends up to more long term damage

Pelfrey could switch arms and it would still be better than Garcia. Nick Swisher is a better option

    Re: Pelfrey has Tendonitis

Garcia has supposedly been much better in extended Spring Training. I don't know if Pelf so far is better than Garcia would do, but I just hope Pelf gets better and Garcia can come through if we perchance need him.

They could always re-sign Pedro Martinez.

    Re: Pelfrey has Tendonitis

According to Metsblog, [If Necessary] Jon Niese, Dillon Gee and Nelson Figueroa, who was pulled after two scoreless innings today in his start for Triple-A Buffalo, are likely options to start in place of Pelfrey on Sunday.

Gee was very impressive in Spring Training, and Manuel said he wanted to get another look at him at a later date...Any of those guys would be interesting to say the least. Here's to hoping Pelf heals quick.
