Hate to break it to Krod but the team that won the World Series that happens to be in the same division is the team to beat. Now that is a dumb comment!

The quote was taken out of context. He was asked whether he thinks the team's reasonable goal to win the World Series is sensible, and his response was that of course they're gonna do everything they can to be that team to beat, that team to win it all.

Its not taken out of contextHe said they are the team to beat! I understand the point that he obviously thinks the Mets have a chance and he is going to say their goal is to win but you have to be realistic at some point. The Phillies are the team to beat.

There's also a difference between saying your're the team to beat when you lose by 12 games to the other team (which isn't THAT bad, still weird), and saying you're the team to beat when you didn't make the playoffs and the other team won the World Series. I think both are pretty ****ing stupid if you ask me. I mean, the Mets absolutely destroyed the Phillies in 2006....it wasn't even close....they didn't even come in 2nd place. So, I mean, you can say it's different, and I guess it is, but Rollins was pretty stupid in what he said back then too...

that's not what Reefer said. he said there's a difference between "we're going to win" and "we're the team to beat." The first one is promoting yourself, which is fine, that takes guts and is something you still have to back up, but it's only a reflection of how good you are. The important thing about "we're going to win" is it talks about the future. The other one is an indirect shot at the Phillies in the present, which is impossible to back up because in the present, the Phillies are the WS champs
