Heilman Wants A Trade

I don't understand how you can say Heilman hasn't regressed. He DID regress, he had such an ugly season. Just because he didn't lose any velocity doesn't mean he didn't regress. Yes he doesn't have arm injuries. But I feel like you're picking and choosing. You fail to see that Heilman had a disgustingly horrible season, and if he wants to keep his value, he has to perform again. Just because he has all the tools that made him successful in the past doesn't mean he will continue to be successful now. He has to consistently prove it like every other pitcher in the league

Even in his worst year, Street had a .229 average against and fanned 69 in 70 innings. He also started to gain back some velocity towards the end of the season .

Alright, but Street was still only hitting 85 in early September when I watched him. You're right, Street has statistically been very good, but will his arm continue to hold up, and after multiple arm injuries, I'm not necessarily so sure it will.

Heilman has not REGRESSED. He had a bad year. One bad year is not regression, it is a bad year. Trust me, I know ALL about Heilman's disgustingly bad season, but the fact that he has that stuff, and the fact that he's not injury prone is EXACTLY WHAT GIVES HIM VALUE. If you're picking between 2 similarly rated guys in a sim league, would you take the guy with better stuff, less injury prone, and slightly lower stats....or would you pick the guy with stats that are better, but not mind-blowingly better, who also is injury prone, and has regressed in his stuff in the past year? My guess is you'd be glad to have either, but would rather have the first one.

I mean, I'm not making it up, there are 6 teams that have real interest and have approached the Mets about Heilman. Clearly there's interest there, clearly there's desire, and clearly the Mets will be able to get something pretty good back if they choose to trade him.

ljshorty, Street's ERA compared to Heilman's IS "mind-blowingly" better. Street just had a "dead arm" period last season. He ended strong last year as a setup man for Ziegler.

Last year, yes it was. Overall(Heilman as a reliever), it's less than a run difference. I don't know if I'd call that mind blowing.

2.88 and 3.52 is a huge difference brotha. It's over half a run.

But neither of these players is going into the HOF. Idk, I just feel like there are teams (including the Rockies) showing more interest in Heilman than you think.

I have no doubt that the Rockies would be interested. If you read my very first post I cited a lot of teams that would give him a shot. I just don't think he is worth a Huston Street. And I never said those guys were HOFers.

The Rockies turned down the Mets' proposal of Aaron Heilman for Huston Street, the New York Post reports.
A trade apparently is still a possibility, but the Rockies would want Pedro Feliciano along with Heilman. The Mets think that's too high of a price to pay for a guy in Street who might not even be their closer by the time the season starts.
