Mets at the plate: Outfielder Lastings Milledge tripled with one out in the second inning but wound up stranded on third base. David Newhan singled in the third and scored New York's first run on a sacrifice fly. Designated hitter Ruben Sierra drove a two-run double to the right-center-field gap in the seventh inning.

Orioles at the plate: Corey Patterson singled and scored in Baltimore's big inning, but he also popped up to end the rally. Melvin Mora crushed a three-run triple in the third and a one-run double later in the game.

Mets on the mound: Former Orioles righty John Maine started for the Mets and threw two scoreless innings. He was relieved by Philip Humber, who gave up five runs and let Baltimore bat around in the third inning.

Orioles on the mound: Jaret Wright walked the leadoff batter in the first inning but didn't allow an error to break the shutout. Southpaw prospect Garrett Olson allowed one run in two innings of work.

Grapefruit League records: Mets 2-3; Orioles 3-1.

Up next: The Orioles will face the Marlins on Monday at Fort Lauderdale Stadium at 1:05 p.m. ET, and Adam Loewen will be matched up against Florida's Chris George. The Mets will return home to Port St. Lucie, where southpaw Oliver Perez will be matched up against Cleveland's Jake Westbrook at 1:10 p.m.
