    Rays Rays Come Calling

Rauch blows it vs. Crawford + Longoria. Tough spot. Where's Nathan when you need him.

    Rays Rays Come Calling

Tonight, Pavano and Nieman locked up in a pretty good duel, but the bullpen lost the game for the Twins. Rauch blew the save and Guerrier allowed a run in the 10th that proved to be the winning run. Rays won 5-4.

Rauch blew the save, but this is only like the 2nd or 3rd time he's blown a save and the Twins actually lose.

Price goes 8, giving up 2 runs on 4 hits...but takes the loss. Twins win 2-1 after an interesting 9th with Rauch.

Baker did a very good job of keeping the team in the game after a shaky 1st. I was happy to see him pick up the win tonight.
Valencia did a good job of hitting tonight, driving in the winning run. Mauer looked like he was pressing a bit, as did Morneau.

Geez, what is with the umpiring this year?? Maybe I just forget in the off season that it's this bad every year. Hopefully the Rays can get a good showing from Davis and have a chance to break even...the Yankees are getting AWAY!

Jim Thome ties Harmon Killebrew for 10th place on the home run list with a solo off of Davis.

Harmon is very gracious. I'm sure he's happy to see Thome pass him, especially wearing a Twins' uniform.

By the way, it appears Liriano is pitching well today. 1 run on 4 hits and a walk through 7. 10 Ks.

Well that was a fail if I've ever seen one. Gardenhire did his best to get as many pitching changes as he could possibly fit in to that 8th inning but it still let him down. He went righty-righty, lefty-lefty (for like 2 pitches!) and then righty-righty again, and Matt Joyce blows the game wide open with the pinch-hit grand salami. Game set match.

That was a lousy way to lose a game. Not sure if he could have done better in the 8th than the pen did, but he certainly wouldn't have done worse.

Twin pen struggles yet again! Way yo blow a great game pitched by Liriano. Too bad as well because we need the win to keep ahead of the tigers.

Blackburn is pitching a bit better today. Twins down 2-1 in the middle of the 5th.
