Red Sox Twins/Red Sox, at Target Field

Target Field opened today with a sell-out crowd on hand (to no one's surprise). The Twins won the game 5-2 over the Red Sox, with Jason Kubel hitting the first homer in the ballpark. Carl Pavano pitched 6 strong innings and Brian Duensing, Matt Guerrier and Jon Rauch each pitched an inning. Rauch picked up his 5th save in as many chances. The players seemed to enjoy the ballpark and the fans had a great time. We hope to get up there ourselves this summer to see a game.
Twins are 6-2, leading the AL Central by half a game over the Tigers.

Good to see them win the home opener.

I just finally found a picture of the Kirby Puckett statue and I have to say I am SORELY disappointed.

So, what happened to a Tuesday game this week? I could have sworn when I looked at the schedule a couple of weeks ago, there were games all week. I look today to check the box score and the schedule shows that they played the BoSox Monday, Wed and Thursday.

    Did I miss something?

Blast from the past, welcome back Lynch!

And yes, that statue is... off. The new stadium is beautiful though, the Twins have a young team packed full of talent with many of those players locked into deals for the future. There are a lot of little touches and attention to detail with the stadium that really makes it a great new home for the Twins to try to bring home another championship. If any of you guys head out, make sure to share some pics with us.

If I can figure out how to post pictures, I'll take a few when we go to see the new stadium.
Great to have a day off, but the Twins momentum was going well. I hope they got some rest and did some work on infield and outfield stuff.

I don't like Punto hitting but the defense is solid. Why would gardy not start Harris and in the later innings bring in Punto for the defense?

Today, the footing appears to be an issue on the mound. Slowey didn't have his best stuff the first time through the lineup, but did better the 2nd. The 3rd time though, it appeared he had some difficulties and was removed after 5 innings. Neshek got squeezed a bit by the umpire, but he got through the 6th inning OK.
    Twins trail 3-2 after 5 1/2 innings.

Liriano is back fellas! So far today though 7 innings pitched he has 8 k's and ZERO runs against.

6-0 Twins bottom of the 7th.

Guess last year was a blip on the radar. He looks better than 2 years ago.

Twins shutout Boston 8-0, and take the first series in the new park.

Liriano seems to be getting comfortable on the mound again. Great to see.
