Don't let the fear of striking out keep you from playing the game.
The Twins seem like a good fit for Blake. They could use his offense and he is versatile. He can play third, DH, first and outfield. Plus the Twins were just win away from the playoffs.
I've always liked Casey. I have followed his career since he was in high school and he's a very good guy. He could definitely help the Twins, especially offering some "protection" to Morneau and Mauer, and occasionally hitting between them.

Casey has indicated that he would like to come back to Minnesota and they could certainly use his bat and glove in their lineup. The Dodgers offer him more of the "good-life" he enjoyed while playing there. I hope the Twins can come up with the right contract to bring him back, again.

Let's see who breaks first.According to ESPN's Jayson Stark, the Twins and Dodgers both have essentially been told that they'll be able to sign Casey Blake if they add a third year to their current proposals.
There's good reason for both teams to stick to two-year offers, but one may blink. At the very least, it figures that Blake will receive a vesting option for a third year. According to the Minneapolis Star Tribune, the Twins have offered two years at about $6 million per year with a club option for 2011.
Sure. Add a 3rd year. The worst that can happen is that the Twins will trade him to the Yankees or Mets for half of their farm system during the 3rd season.

Is there any chance of Nick Punto coming back? The Star Tribune reports that the Twins have broken off contract talks with free agent Casey Blake.
The Twins and Dodgers were supposed to be his strongest suitors, so perhaps we'll see Blake re-sign with Los Angeles soon. The Twins are moving on in their quest to upgrade at one of two infield spots. The Rockies reportedly want Kevin Slowey and Denard Span for Garrett Atkins, so it doesn't seem like anything will happen there. Trades for J.J. Hardy, Adrian Beltre or Phils prospect Jason Donald would also be tough to pull off. Joe Crede is looking like more of a possibility, and the Twins would probably have some interest in Mike Lowell if the Red Sox signed Mark Teixeira.
Sorry to see this. Casey is a good player and could help the Twins a lot.
