Neshek Out For '09

Pat Neshek will undergo Tommy John surgery and miss the 2009 season.
When Neshek first partially tore the UCL in his elbow in May, the decision was made for rehab over surgery. Now he's got a complete tear and he's going to end up missing almost two full years because of the injury. If he had just undergone surgery in the first place, he probably would have made it back by May or June. With Neshek sidelined, the Twins figure to pursue a veteran setup man this winter.

Seems like the Twins have made poor decisions with injuries the past couple of years. First they weren't too wise with Liriano and now Neshek. They might want to get a new trainer.

Good to hear the surgery went well. Now comes the hard part for everyone. Rehabbing a surgically repaired joint is difficult (speaking from experience) and things have to be done carefully and slowly. Pat will feel like he's nearly ready to go some days, and others, he will need to be prodded just to do his rehab -- doing the same things over and over gets boring.
