Twins White Sox at the Dome for 3

This series could either make or break the Twins' season. They need to sweep the Sox to stay in the race, and then hope for some help from Cleveland.
    Tuesday, Vasquez goes against Baker.
    Wednesday, its Buehrle against Blackburn.
    Thursday, Floyd against Slowey.
I hope the Twins pitchers show that the last couple of weeks have been just bad days.

Your correct about this series being a key one. A sweep is in order. Otherwise I dont think we have a shot at making the playoffs. I hope the fans will show up for this key series.

Side note we should have won 3 games at Tampa. A split was ok but one more win would have really helped.

This series is going to be the most important series of the year for Minnesota. A sweep would be a great push, but help is definitely needed, like stated above.

    Twins win 9-3.

    1.5 games back.

Side notes: Griffey hit his 610, moving him into sole possession of 5th on the all time home run list. and Go-Go-Gomez stole his 32nd base for the Twins, the most since Otis Nixon swiped 37 back in 1998.

Big win for Baker. He pitched really well tonight. I hope his start is an omen of things to come.
Kubel and Young went deep, with Kubel doing so twice. Morneau doubled in his 129th run of the season.
If the Twins win out, they make the playoffs. If not, they have to have a lot of help.

See the Griiffey Jr homerun? If he starts tomorrow we need to throw at him at hit him. He stood there at home plate and watched his homerun! If I was Gardy, Jr must pay..

Now to the Twins, Baker pitched a gem tonight. Kubel had a great game at the plate. Team had a great game all around. Key win tonight. We need the next game tomorrow. If we can sweep the Sox's we make the playoffs.

    Go Twins!

I'll give Jr. a "pass". He now has 610 homers. That gives him the right to admire one now and then. Ordinarily when he hits one, he puts his head down and runs to 1B. If Morneau or Mauer hits one tonight, they have every right to admire it -- tonight. No retrobution will be forthcoming, however, or there will be a big problem.
I have a hunch that Morneau would not do that, though.

Twins win again tonight, 3-2. Grif hits another homer, number 611.

Boston won, however. We need to get some help from Cleveland.

Another very well pitched game at the Dome tonight. Buehrle may not have had his best stuff, but he still did pretty well. Blackburn, followed by Breslow, Bonser, Mijares, and Nathan did a very good job for the Twins. The only one that seemed to have much difficulty was Nathan -- 20 pitches, 10 balls, 10 strikes. 1 walk, no K's, but save #39 nonetheless.
Slowey is due for a very good start.

.5 out of first place. How many of us thought this would happen this year? BIG win tonight. Tomorrow Slowey must be at his best. I have a feeling a sweep is in order!

Does Chicago have four games left after tomorrow? Do they have a makeup game or something?

The White Sox will have to play 1 game with the Tigers. It appears the game would be played in Chicago. Lets hope it won't be necessary.

Slowey has been a monster at the Dome. He's 7-1 in his last 8 starts with a 2.25 ERA.

    Well so much for that.

    3.2 IP, 5 H, 6 ER, 1 BB and 3 K's.

    Twins down BIG early.

It appears Slowey couldn't get the 3rd out. Not to worry. The pen came in and pitched 6.1 scoreless innings and the Twins came back to win the game 7-6, completing the necessary sweep and regaining 1st place. The Sox go home to face the Indians and the Twins host the Royals to finish off the season. I'll be at Saturday's game, wearing my "Circle Me Bert" t-shirt. Our seats are in the left field corner, so we could get a baseball, although we are 16 rows up.
