Fisher: For the umpteenth time, Ortiz wasn't going to work with the Twins. It wasn't working out. Twins gave him an opportunity to prove himself, but it wasn't working. Plus Ortiz wasn't being a team player for the Twins. He just wasn't fitting in the team concept either. With the Twins, it's the Twins way or the highway. C.C. Sabathia and Mark Buherle could be great pitchers, but odds are they were not going to fit in with them. I know Mark Prior wasn't going to fit in with the Twins either no matter how great he is. You gotta cut your losses and that's what the Twins did. Ortiz has made a name of himself in Boston and good for him. I have no regrets and I definitely have no regrets about Todd Walker doing well either considering he was a pain in the rear end for the Twins. Walker was a jagoff. Good to see Ortiz and Walker doing well for their teams, but it wasn't working for the Twins so the Twins found something else. Twins are happy and Ortiz is happy. All is well in Mudville.

And if first base was that easy, how come Piazza looked really bad at that position when he played first with the Mets.

Fine, I just think it was idiotic to release Ortiz and Terry Ryan's biggest mistake.

I said it was the second easiest position, but not that easy. However, the only time you hear that a guy is a good defensive first baseman is when said first baseman can't swing a stick for shit.

David McCarty and John Olerud are good defensive first basemen. Millar gets more starts than either of them.

I said it all along Ortiz should not have been moved peroid! His batting approch I know we did not like. But I will say it agian he needed more time to develop. If I remember correctly he did not play everyday. What is the suprise to me is look what happens in Boston with the homers and rbi the major increase. To me lineups between Bo soxs and Twins are about the same, but to my thought, if Ortiz was our everyday DH we would be blowing away the Divsion. The beating by the freaking Yankees would not have happened as it did either.

I have said for the past 2 years here that we need a power hitting dh. Ortiz would have been the fit we desperatly need. We need to have a 30+ hr 115 rbi guy in the lineup. We don't have that. this is where we must find some during the trading period. Oh and find a FREAKING replacement for Brad " I give up way to many runs in the first three innings" Radke!
