Liriano has been solid since his call up. Hopefully he can put on another good showing tonight and get the Twins back on the right track.

Twins win big tonight on a strong showing from Liriano. Francisco's line: 7+ IP, 5 H, 2 ER, 1 BB, and 9 K's.

Morneau hits a slam in the 5th, his 22nd. Young also homered, his 9th.

Good way to start off the home-stand. Bad news for the ChiSox -- Quentin is out for the season after breaking his wrist.

No he is not out for the season. 2 to 3 weeks then will be looked at again. Per ESPN"S Johnathan Coachman.

Twins win finally, we win at home but NOT on the road.

It is something that will be addressed for next season, I'm sure. There are some very good arms in the minors, and they will get a shot to make the big club next spring. Yes, I'm calling the season off right now. The Twins may make it into the playoffs, but they will not advance unless the bats carry them.

    Re: The Tigers come Calling

I agree with Catman. You cannot honestly say that this year was not a success. Nobody thought that the Twins would even be in 3rd place in the division this year (behind Detroit, CWS, and Cleveland). We have been pleasantly surprised with how our young talent have been producing (Span, Casilla, even Gomez to an extent).

Yes, bullpen has been hurting us as of late. With Neshek going down early in the year, we knew it was going to be tough with all the young arms in the pen. And with Boof and Livan not doing what was expected, it really put a strain on the pitching staff.

If they make it into the playoffs this year, right on. If not, yes I'll be a bit disappointed, however watch out for this team next year.
