    Twins Liriano To File Grievance

Francisco Liriano's agent has contacted the players' association about pursuing a grievance against the Twins for not promoting him.
Perhaps Liriano has himself stashed away in his fantasy league. He is 7-0 with a 2.73 ERA in his last nine starts at Triple-A, and his fastball is consistently in the mid-90s and touching 97. He is claiming that the Twins are purposely keeping him in the minors to limit his major league service time and thus his arbitration eligibility. Livan Hernandez has a 7.28 ERA in his past ten starts, but he's also owed $5 million this season. Liriano could have major league service time added to his total if he wins.
Liriano is getting ****ed here and the Twins are ****ing themselves. He is ready to come back and can really help this team in a weaker AL Central than they're used to. This will be interesting to see what happens from here.

personally, i would think the twins would want liriano in their rotation to help them into the playoff race more than they would care about his arbitration eligibility. but that's just me...

They should care about that which is why it is criminal for them to keep him in AAA for as long as they did.

    Ladies,

I was told he would be back up after the all star break. This was posted on the star tribune website.

I agree with ^, there's no way the Twins would keep him down there for very long after the ASB, if at all.

Expect to see Liriano back in a Twins uni very soon.

Him coming back after the All Star break has nothing to do with the grievance. He shpould have been called up already is the whole point.

    From the Twins' website:
The club is happy with its rotation of Livan Hernandez, Scott Baker, Kevin Slowey, Glen Perkins and Nick Blackburn.

I don't really think the Twins 100% happy with their rotation, but whatever. They're just too optimistic with the fact that they're just 1.5 games back.

Liriano spent way too much in the minors getting back in track, it's time for him to get a promotion. Livan's on the end of his rope, you think?

I can't believe the Twins GM said "talking about a guy in AAA" as if he's a minor league player. What a joke! This guy should be your ace right now.

    Re: Liriano To File Grievance

He isn't ready to be the "ace" of the staff. Baker and Blackburn have earned the right to be called aces. Liriano is ready to contribute, and will likely get the opportunity to do so very, very soon.

If it wasn't for his elbow injury and had TJ surgery, it wouldn't have happened. We won't be hearing any news like this.

    Re: Liriano To File Grievance

He's obviously healthy and has already proven his capabilities at the major league level.

I don't understand why they would keep him in AAA for as long as they already have.

It's not like this is a case of some unproven talent that they want to wait on since they have the added advantage of pushing off arbitration eligibility.

Liriano is a proven commodity and the Twins rotation needs him.

    Re: Liriano To File Grievance

Liriano pitched well again tonight in AAA. He could help the team in the bullpen, but that would defeat the purpose of sending him back down. I still think Livan goes into the bullpen, Bass is released, and Liriano starts again, soon.
