    Danny Graves Sighting

Twins signed RHP Danny Graves to a minor league contract.
He's expected to join the bullpen at Triple-A and is a long shot to make it back to the majors after pitching in the independent Atlantic League last season.
And this signing just had to come after the Nathan extension

Graves is not much better. He used to be a sick closer, but he has been mediocre at best since 2005.

He shut me down in MVP 04 yesterday.
I did a lot of good things as a sim league GM.

Ah, give me something clever to say here.

Was he a pitcher on the Reds? If its the guy I am thinking of he had nasty stuff, but it was like 4 years or so ago.

Yeah, he was on the Reds. He was a good closer back then, but then he started sucking. Badly.

Yes, Graves pitched for the Reds, but his stuff was always average. You might have been thinking of hard-throwing Scott Williamson instead.

    Re: Danny Graves Sighting

His stuff at one time was pretty decent but he lost his velocity in a bad way (used to his 93 or so) and control on his breaking pitches to the point that he would just throw pitches that hanged in the zone to try to find the strikezone. It wasn't nasty (mofo is right, that would be Williamson) but it was pretty good at his peak.

With that said, I would be entirely shocked if he pitched like that again. There is a reason he fell so quickly from the graces of the MLB.

    Re: Danny Graves Sighting

It all started when they tried him as a Starter. He declined quickly from there. He never was over powering though, I remember he would get a couple of guys on in nearly every inning he pitched, they just didn't score very often. A heart wrenching closer in his day.

We'll see what happens with this guy. Its possible that he is just a AAA roster filler.

Graves actually had like 3 years of 30+ saves. But then he basically disappeared
