    Carlos Lee to be dealt?

There's little doubt the Brewers are going to trade Carlos Lee before the July 31 deadline. He should bring a high return with a lot of teams, including the Yankees and prospect-rich Dodgers, looking for hitting. . . .

Why would they want to trade him in the first place?

Can you imagine the package they are going to get for him? His contract is up at the end of this year and the way things are going for him, he will get a hefty raise. I would keep him since Jenkins is most likely a goner after this year. If they get a extremely nice package offer for Lee, they will take it because it will save money in the long run to get other good players.

1.) His contract is up at the end of the season, and like reefer said, it will take a hefty contract to re-sign this guy. Lee's carried the Brewers up to respectability both last year, and this year, and has the recognition for doing so. He's certainly the best hitter available this offseason, and will be paid as such.

2.) They really do not need him after this year. For many years, the Brewers have been building a farm system, and it is currently one of the best. In the high levels, they have three guys ready to go- Corey Hart, Brad Nelson, and Dave Krynzel.

Unless the Brewers really think they can pull a Wild Card spot, they would be best in trading Lee, and getting more prospects for him in return. They can use the money saved to upgrade elsewhere, or to use down the line to help re-sign some players.

I really thinkLee will be fighting to stick around. I am sure he will likely get offered a hefty contract and his numbers prove to be that os high dollar caliber, but I have a feeling he wants to stay in Milwaukee.

He may want to stay, but the Brewers will have to trade him, or they will lose to FA's.

Anyone want to bet that he is going to go to the Yankees? This sounds just like the last 5 years or so. Biggest deal will go to the Yanks. Especially with their current need of an OF.

The Yankees could certainly use Lee, but he would cost Philip Hughes, or some painful combination of the Yanks low-A talent like Jose Tabata et al.

I think the Brewers can get a better deal than what the Yanks are offering.

Only Chris Capuano has proved to be a mainstay for the Brewers. Of course, the Dbacks are kicking themselves for trading Capuano for less than a month of playing time by Richie Sexson, but the Brewers didn't exactly received a king's ransom for Sexson.

what did teh Brewers get for Overbay? Did he go FA last year? I can't quite remember.

I was just refering to Sexson pulling 6 players from the DBacks.
