Marlins at the plate: Dan Uggla had a pair of two-run doubles. Joe Borchard doubled in Hanley Ramirez. Miguel Olivo doubled home Borchard in the first inning and homered in the fifth.

Dodgers at the plate: Nomar Garciaparra slugged a two-run homer in the third inning, singled in the first, scored twice and collected three RBIs. Luis Gonzalez produced an RBI double in the first and an RBI single in the fifth. Juan Pierre singled, doubled, scored twice and stole a base.

Marlins on the mound: Starter Chris Volstad allowed three runs and left the game when he was struck by Andre Ethier's comebacker to open the fourth inning. Randy Messenger allowed two unearned runs in the fifth inning. Jesus Delgado, Wes Obermueller and Mike Koplove pitched scoreless innings of relief, with Koplove earning the save.

Dodgers on the mound: Starter Jason Schmidt was knocked around for four runs in the first two innings. Greg Miller allowed three runs in the fourth inning, as well as Olivo's solo homer in the fifth. Takashi Saito, Jonathan Broxton, Chin-Hui Tsao and non-roster invitee Rudy Seanez each pitched a scoreless inning in relief.

Grapefruit League records: Dodgers 6-6; Marlins 3-8-1.

Up next: Brad Penny starts for the Dodgers against Nationals starter Chris Michalak on Sunday at 1:05 p.m. ET. Penny, who struggled through a difficult second half in '06, has a 13.50 ERA after two spring starts. Penny will be followed to the mound by fifth starter candidates Hong-Chih Kuo and Eric Stults.
