Either that or the fact that Barry Bonds (not Gonzalez, Sosa, and McGwire) was the face of the BALCO investigation. Or maybe because two of Barry's close friends are in jail for giving steroids to baseball players. Or maybe because two books (in as many weeks) have been published about Barry's steroid abuse. Refresh my memory: Did Juan Gonzalez's trainer run a drug ring? How many of Sammy Sosa's friends are in jail for giving steroids to baseball players? How many books have come out about Mark McGwire's steroid abuse?

No one that believes Barry used steroids is "way off base" Bonds has been sought after because of his status? Yes. But moreso because by being a stubborn jackass and not fielding any questions about the issue, he's made this story the Holy Grail of Sports Journalism.

SFboy... Its' a satirical article. Do you know what satire is? Have a sense of humor about it. You can continue to attack me, instead of making any arguments in Barry's defense. It's really working. (That was satire as well)

He's just bitter that we can make better arguments against Bonds than he can for Bonds.

Bottom line is that the owners are as much to blame for the irresponsibleness they showed when players from everywhere starting routinely breaking the 60 HR mark after that record stood for over 30 years. But it was good for the game, they were making bags of money at the gate and not until congress started putting the heat on them did they decided to institute some strict polices. Even then they stopped short of a zero tolerance policy against using performance enhancing drugs.

Back to Bond’s however, the reason he's being singled out is because he is threatening the precious HR record and admittedly he's a dick to the press which incenses them no end. The best thing baseball could do right now is back off this whole witch hunt. Let Bonds break the record (which I believe he will) and he’ll retire after this year or next and they can get on with life with a sensible policy in place. JMO.

Who is everyone? 3 Guys have hit more than 61 Homeruns, and only 2 guys did it more than once. And it only happened in 1998, 1999, and 2001. So saying "players from everywhere starting routinely breaking the 60 HR mark" is a bunch of bull crap.

Baseball already has a sensible policy in place. Bonds can break Hank Aaron's record if he lasts long enough. He's so broken down as is, that there is no good reason for anyone to pitch to him. No way he hits 48 HRs this year.

Bonds is a user and a bad liar. If that's the kind of ballplayer you look up to, then that's on you. He's already been condemned in the court of public opinion and I think that's punishment enough. Fathers will forever tell their sons what pile of crap Barry is/was.

The worst thing that can happen to baseball is for a racist, steroid-using, jealous, pricky ingrate to break one of, if not the most, hallowed records in baseball history, thus taking it away from a man who deserves to hold the record until someone can CLEANLY take it away from him.

And before you say "how do you know Bonds is a racist", let me tell you this: the ONLY reason Bonds wants to surpass Ruth and not Aaron is because Ruth is white.

Bonds should have retired after he passed his godfather.

    Hank Aaron used amphetamines.

Do not desire for someone to "Cleanly" take the record away from him when he himself did not cleanly take it away from Babe Ruth.

You are way off base with your explaination and understanding of what I wrote. Not a real shock but THE reason is because Bonds is chasing Ruth and Aaron. These others you named aren't/weren't close. They have been after Bonds for years now before all the shit you just named.

They may not have been close to Aaron's record but they WERE close to and surpassed Maris' record. The fact that Bonds is active is the real reason why he is taking so much heat.

And Bonds blew by McGwire and Sosa's numbers puching them in the back ground. People need to quit thinking that this is the first year they have been after Bonds.
