Johan got jobbed. Santana was the superior pitcher in every way that he can control.

In terms of Rivera v. Street: Rivera was not that much better than Street, and some would argue not at all. If he is not easily the most dominant and best RP in baseball, then his value can't be Gagne great unless you have one of those extremely rare Smoltz/Gagne things (and even then, Gagne was better)I don't see how being traded for 5 years ago by a current 3rd place team makes him a worse candidate than a guy signed as an amateur free agent 15 years ago by what was a team that tied for first.

As Dave has said, these are yearly awards. This is not Hall of Fame voting. This is not all-decade/all-century team voting. This is the 2005 Cy Young race.

"It generally goes to the best pitcher whose team is at least in the race, it's rare for a pitcher to get it on a team that is nowhere near the postseason race and when your record is only 16-7(I know in the other important categories he was at the top) and your team is out of it by Sept then you aren't winning the CY."

You misinterpreted my question. I meant, what is the Cy Young, meaning what are your parameters for giving it to Rivera in this case, not the idiot voters who could find a stick if one were lodged up their collective ass.

At least we won't have any doubt who wins Cy Young next year, King Felix of course.

Circular logic aside, Mr Mims, you have yet to provide a single credible reason why you are, in fact, hot.
