Wow thats a tricky question. Just about every team has a hole somewhere that could be exploited. But I think even with the LaRussa anchor tied to them, the Cards will win the World Series behind NL MVP (IMO) Albert Pujols. The Red Sox wouldnt be able to match the Cards staff this year like last year with the questions about Schilling, Foulke, Wakefield (in the rotation), etc.

I’ll be rooting for the once again, but I have to say no for this one. I think the Cards, Braves, or an AL West team could win it. I’m defiantly not counting them out, but without Schilling at the level he was at last year, I don’t see them having the stuff to make it. Pitching wins championships, and Boston’s pitching is much worse then it was last year. Manny and Ortiz can’t do everything. To many other teams have improved while the Sox haven’t.

The Yankees will make the playoffs, why or why not?

No. As said before, the accusation of Bellhorn shows the Yankees weakness in the situation they are in. If Felix is able to shut the Yanks down, and the Angles win, they are tied for the AL Wild Card lead. Also the Indians are still well and alive in the race. The Red Sox are running away with the East lead so there is no spot there for the Yankees. This team will only bring too little too late for the race. For the first time in years, the Yankees will not make the playoffs.

I cannot see a team that is 3-9 vs the Devil Rays making the playoffs and heres a couple numbers for you.

Team ERA 20th 4.50
Batting Average Against 23rd .273
Opponent OPS 20th .761

You cant win in September with those type of pitching performances.

Also they keep grabbing anyone with any name recognition they can. What good has Alan Embree done for them?

Yes I know they got Chacon but I do not see that being enough to hold of the A's and Angels or passing Boston and making the playoffs.

Anyways I owe my face time again to the catastrophe in the South. Word has started that 6 nations are beginning to step up to the plate offering help to us like we have many times before. My prayers with the victims of this ***** Katrina, and may they find some silver lining in the vast darkness of this event.
