I have Pujols as being worth 30 more runs with the bat than Jones. Defense don't make that up.

Griffey may contribute more runs, but Andruw's bat is more valuable to Braves' success than Pujols' is to the Cardinals' success. Stats can't measure that.

These days, I almost want to say Chris Carpenter is the Cardinal's MVP... or Taguchi (ha!). I had to pick Jones because he finally stepped up BIG when the braves had so many injuries all at once and again were written off.

To say Jones has done more for his team than Pujols is just outrageous. You have to put in the Bonds factor. Just having Pujols in that lineup makes all the difference inthe world. Pujols and Jones have had the same thing happen to their teams and they have done the same. Pujols has the better numbers and is a guy you want in the 9th with the game on the line, not Jones.

I understand your point; however, the loss of Pujols to the Cardinals would not mean as much as the loss of Andruw Jones would to the Braves.

How do you figure that as Rolen is already out for the year?

Let's see who has the edge here.

Jones beats Pujols in really only 2 major categories, HRs (42 to 39) and RBIs (102 to 99). Pujols basically wins everything else though. He has an astounding 22 more walks than Ks (74 to 52) while Jones's ratio is 55 BBs and 93 Ks. Pujols has more runs and hits than Jones too, but here's the big one...

    AVG-OBP-SLG
    Jones - .272-.357-.593
    Pujols - .334-.428.-619 (which is good for a 1.047 OPS...ridiculous)

Hell, Pujols even has 11 steals! (And Jones is 2-for-5 in steal attempts) Pujols is the more complete player this year and even though the Cardinals have had a better year offensively than the Braves, it's a lot closer than you would think.
I did a lot of good things as a sim league GM.

Ah, give me something clever to say here.

I can't justify choosing Andruw Jones when he isn't even the best CF in his league this year on offense (that would be Ken Griffey Jr.).

I still think Lee has been the best player in the NL this year all things considered and I'd still vote for him in spite of his team. He has a higher average and higher slugging than Pujols (higher OBP too, but that's so marginal).

If you give the MVP to Andruw Jones, then I demand the AL MVP be given to Travis Hafner if the Indians win the WC. A-Rod's appearence on one of the already best offenses in baseball can't mean that much, Tejada's team won't get anywhere, Ortiz might not be the best player on his team, Roberts see Tejada, Jeter see A-Rod, Young see Roberts.

I vote for Lee right now and I wouldn't object that much if Pujols got it.

MVP's shouldn't have that low of an average. Ridiculous!

  12. #27
But he is MOST VALUABLE TO HIS TEAM. It's a matter of opinion over what the MVP award means.

I disagree, Pujols has done just as much if not more for his team. But you are a homer so why do bother.

  14. #29
    **** you.

Andruw has contributed more to his team's success than Pujols. I'm not saying Andruw is the better player; he's not. But he has done more to lead his team to winning ways.
