We start the day off with a little bit of the Yankee flavor: Carl Pavano is out for 6 more weeks. Guys, is this a big blow to the Yanks? Around the Horn to Slyder.

Of course this is a HUGE blow to the Yankees. With a 200 million dollar payroll you shouldnt have to rely on Hideo Nomo, Al Leiter (6.17 ERA), a red sox castoff Embree (7+ ERA). Granted Pavano hasnt been all that he was advertised to be but the Yanks need guys who can at least keep them in games not named Mussina or Johnson. With Him and Wang on the DL they will continue to lose a lot of 10-8 games cause the others mentioned above cant do anything anymore.

Pavano's ERA is at least a managible 4.77 this year with the way the lineup is capable of putting up runs, would be a 10000 times improvement over what theyve gotten from all the Designated for New York Yankees pitchers.

How much does it really hurt? He had a career year last year in a pitcher's park; the rest of his career he's been mediocre. The yanks got what they paid for. Now their desperation is showing even more. If they don't make the playoffs it will be a shock because of the payroll, but it wil lbe a shock because of the pitching staff. Also Johnson is out now, too. They're in a downward spiral.

YES! the yanks are in drier need of a pitcher, starting type. when you have the 22nd best staff in the LEAGUE, a 4.85 POST ALLSTAR ERA, which btw, is worse than Cincinnati (4.52), thats not something that is going to get you into the POSTSEASON which is what the yanks are wanting. Your starters have a 4.83 and a 1.44 WHIP, you need a good pitcher. Pavano was a good pitcher, and right now he's probably better than the likes of Aaron SMALL. This is not the championchip baseball team we saw 4-5 years back. Theres no chemistry in the clubhouse, getting constantly ridiculed, its getting sad.
