Cubs Cubs threw 1918 World Series??

Mariners | Did the 1918 Cubs throw World Series? | Seattle Times Newspaper

Some very interesting stuff, especially how the box scores help support the rumors. Cicotte and the rest of the White Sox played in the same town and had to have run into some of the Cubs from time to time so they could have known about a fix. Just a very interesting read and opens up a world of new specualtion

It is pretty interesting, but not much to talk about nearly 100 years later. Are we ever going to know for sure? Probably not.

maybe that's where the Black Sox got the idea from.

Of course we will never know for sure but if they are just now finding this in a Cicotte affidavit 90 years after it was given, who knows what else they can find. I have dozens and dozens of books on baseball's history (trying to start a huge library) and never once have I heard the speculation that the 1918 WS was fixed. Its just a shame no one saw this affidavit 50 years ago and brought it to the media's attention. At least then there would have been some living people to tell us what really happened.

Agreed. I also have a large library of baseball history books and haven't heard anything about a possible "fix" of that WS.
Interesting if true, but we'll never know, will we?
