"God Bless America" has to go!!

So it has been nine years since 9/11 and ever since we have been plagued by the buzz kill that is "God Bless America". Nine years is long enough and now its time to reinstall "Take Me Out To The Ballgame". It was a nice gesture for a while but now it is just a song that kills the joy every 7th inning. Take Me Out To the Ballgame is a song everyone can sing to and enjoy. I don't care to see or hear what B celebrity a team can find to sing this song. Bring the fun back to baseball!! We already have the National Anthem. Isn't that patriotic enough? I think it is!

I totally agree. For Opening Day, All-Star Game, or World Series... "God Bless America" is fine, but not in the 7th inning. Now before someone who digs McCarthyism tries to ring me up as a commie, I love this country, but the 7th inning, for the home town crowd is not a point of reflection. It is the time to get up, get a beer, sing like an idiot, and hope to God that in a couple of innings that you leave with a smile.

I don't care whether the Dodger Stadium crew plays God Bless America or Take Me Out to the Ballgame in the 7th inning, as long as they stop playing "Don't Stop Believin' " every 8th inning. Steve Perry and his Giants can have that shit all to themselves.

At the last Reds game, I believe they played every Black Eyed Peas song in existence. It was awful.

I don't have issues with them playing it for the special occasion games...Opening Day...4th of July, 911 remembrance and play-offs. Try to remember it is not only just to remember 911 but we have 2 wars going on RIGHT NOW and it is a salute to those fighting and dying at the moment so we can sit at home or in the stands out of harm's way. These games are being televised to the troops and it is a small collective way to acknowledge them..

I don't want to hear it in the playoffs either. Its depressing to have all that intense playoff atmosphere come to a dead halt. If they want to sing it, do it before the game after or before the National Anthem when people are still trying to find their seats.
