Shocked Dallas Braden yells at A-Rod for breaking unwritten rules

Apparently, D-Bra is upset that A-Rod violated some "unwritten" rules and "disrespected" him when he ran over the pitcher's mound.

The showdown: Baseball Video Highlights & Clips | NYY@OAK: A-Rod, Braden share words after double play - Video | MLB.com: Multimedia

Braden's big beef: In the sixth inning of the A's 4-2 victory, Rodriguez went from first to third on a foul ball by Robinson Cano(notes). His trip back to first took him right over the pitcher's mound, an unspoken no-no that ticked Braden off right away. After a double play ended the inning, the 26-year-old pitcher immediately started yelling at A-Rod who claimed he didn't know he had done anything wrong

He also claimed he didn't know Braden was talking to him at first.

    Said Rodriguez:
"He just told me to get off his mound. I was a little surprised. I'd never quite heard that. Especially from a guy that has a handful of wins in his career ... I thought it was pretty funny actually."
    Said Braden:
"He should probably take a note from his captain over there and realize you don't cross the pitcher's mound in between an inning or during the game. I was just dumbfounded that he would let that slip his mind — being someone of such status."

"I don't care if I'm Cy Young or the 25th man on the roster, if I've got the ball in my hand and I'm on that mound, that's my mound ... He ran across the pitcher's mound foot on my rubber. No, not happening. We're not the door mat anymore."

Braden is from Stockton and you don't mess with Stockton folks.

What does the amount of wins Braden has have to do with it? Because A-Rod ****ed Madonna, does that mean he can do whatever?

A-Rod is lucky he didn't get his ass kicked by Braden. I think he could choke him out.

It wasn't as bad as when A-Rod yelled at 3B to make him miss that pop-up (bush league), but still.

I personally, well I wouldn't say admire, but I do respect Braden's actions and comments. Yes, it kinda goes both ways, that A-Rod did "break an unwritten rule" but Braden should "still respect his elders" (esp a future HOFer, and at which the latter, may I add, is yet another unwritten rule of baseball). But factor my bias in, and I think Braden was totally in line with his actions and I commend him for them.

I loved it! A-Rod needs to be shown that he isn't God out there either and he could actually have someone yell out him when he does something disrespectful. As for the unwritten rule, I say everyone should try to keep the peace as much as possible, but the unwritten rule should be known. And if A-Rod knew better, he is a punk for doing it. If he didn't, then Braden should have been a little more tact about it.

Either way, I love seeing A-Rod have to take a chewing like that.

This was an awesome exchange of words. D-Bra saying that "I'm only a speck on his radar" but that there would "be repercussions." And A-Rod replying to D-Bra by saying "Who said that? Exactly." Loving it.

Re: Dallas Braden yells at A-Rod for breaking unwritten rules

It would be so epic if Braden would get in a few jabs at A-Rod regarding PEDs, kissing himself in the mirror, his feminine slap of Bronson Arroyo, as well as this:

    He did.

Hey, A-Rod: Stay offa my rubber! - Yankees Blog - ESPN New York

Braden went on to describe several other A-Rod transgressions, including "the time he was playing jumping jacks or whatever he was trying to do on his way down the first base line," an apparent reference to his attempt to slap the ball out of Red Sox pitcher Bronson Arroyo's glove in Game 6 of the 2004 ALCS.
