Former Major League second baseman Marcus Giles has pleaded guilty to misdemeanor battery for assaulting his wife last fall, according to the Associated Press.
Giles, who has not played since 2007, has been in anger management counseling for four months, according to his attorney. The judge issued a limited protective order against Giles, allowing him to have contact with his wife, but not to "annoy or abuse her."
Giles' brother Brian, a 15-year big league outfielder and two-time All-Star who retired last month, has also had his problems off the field, as he was accused of domestic violence and sued for $10 million by a longtime partner in December of 2008.
