Being Ben Sheets is a lot better than being the current Mark Prior.

Karma must be a *****, Prior's prime was lost because of injuries and his ego when he came out of USC demanding way more than what rookies usually made, and cubs granted him with his wish!

So, you're saying he's gotten burned because he became a multi-millionaire before he threw a pitch in the big leagues?

Nah, just saying Karma is a *****, who knows maybe if he hadn't demanded that much money and took what the league minimum was, maybe he would have had a better work ethic, motivation and desire to be a great pitcher.

I guess it depends on how you look at it.

From a pure baseball perspective, yeah he hasn't seen much success if any.

From a general outlook on his life, however, he became a multi-millionaire without having to play a game at the major league level then proceeded to cash in on million dollar salaries for 2 or 3 years without having to work much in those seasons.

Yeah, maybe if he asked for less money, his shoulder wouldn't have dissolved! And if it did, he'd be broke!

His performance in his brief career easily justified the 10 million dollar contract he signed out of college. It certainly would have sucked for him to put up his best numbers while earning the league mandated minimum and then have his shoulder break down before he had a chance to reap millions. The only backlash he might have deserved was for requesting that the Twins (which were on Bud Selig's chopping block at the time) not to draft him.

And the Padres knew what they were getting themselves into when they took those million dollar gambles on Prior. Don't hate the player, hate your team.

I'm not hating anybody. I'm just saying the guy's set financially so it's hard to suggest "karma" somehow bit him in the ass when he's set for life.

Had the Padres not given him a few million to ride the DL for two years I highly doubt they would have gotten anybody else of any major consequence. I felt it was a good low risk/high reward move at the time so I don't give a shit that somebody else gave away money that is not mine for free.
