Ah ok didnt know that thankx for the info. But what about an award for the best pitcher, that is good at either getting sacrifce bunts or hits?? There should be an award for the best pitcher hitter.
They should have an award solely for hitting every year. They could name it after Hank Aaron.

If 50 of those homers for the guy in KC came when they were down by 4 runs and were solo shots, it's misleading. But if 50 of those homers for the guy in Boston came while his team was up by four runs and were solo shots, he's more valuable?

Win method has nothing to do with this. The point is with or without that player hitting 50 homers, that teams still finishes last. That is the definition of having no value to that team. Vlad won MVP last year because he was by far the most valuable player for a winning team. He was the difference. Same with Bonds. Its not hard to get.
Right. Vlad had no value with the Montreal Expos, because those Expos teams sucked. Because the Angels made the playoffs with Vlad, he became valuable, the MVP in fact. It had nothing to do with the guys Guerrero played with. If it did, you couldn't really call it the Most Valuable Player, could you?
A Silver Slugger award is an award to honor the best offensive player at each position. Just like the Triple Crown the managers find out there batting average, home runs, and runs batted in. The best players from those postions earn the Silver Slugger award.
