More Steroid Fun: Tejada's Turn

Miguel Tejada was charged Tuesday with lying to Congressional investigators about the use of performance-enhancing drugs in baseball.
Tejada is accused of giving false statements to Congressional staffers about his conversations with another player, former A's teammate Adam Piatt, about steroids and human growth hormone. He is not accused of using the substance or lying about using the substance. Tejada faces a maximum penalty of a year in jail, but probation would be the most likely scenario in the event of a conviction.

Baseball is not getting away from the steroid cloud anytime soon. Tejada is now going to have his fun with the Steroid Era. 2009 will be filled with even more steroid talk than in years past. Arod's admission, Bonds and Clemens' perjury pursuits and now Tejada will join in. Its going to be another year filled with steroids and Pedro Gomez. Strap in because its going to be a real shitty ride!

Yes, Tejada was named in the Mitchell Report.

I loved that my team maximized our roiders' usefulness in secrecy and then dumped them right before the roids wore off. No controversy surrounding the team afterward, unlike the Giants and the Yankees.

The Mitchell Report also says that Dodgers were concerned that Lo Duca had stopped taking steroids. The notes of the October 2003 meeting say:
“Steroids aren’t being used anymore on him. Big part of this. Might have some value to trade . . . Florida might have interest. . . . Got off the steroids . . . Took away a lot of hard line drives. . . . Can get comparable value back would consider trading. . . . If you do trade him, will get back on the stuff and try to show you he can have a good year. That’s his makeup. Comes to play. Last year of contract, playing for 05."
Six months later the Dodgers traded Lo Duca to the Florida Marlins.
