Soapbox Baseball Awards -- Who wins Them?

Manager of the Year in the AL is pretty easy -- Joe Maddon. No one expected the Rays to make it to the .500 mark this year and they are 3 wins from winning the whole thing. In the

NL, Charlie Manuel has to get some consideration, as does Joe Torre of the Dodgers.

ROY in the NL should be Geovany Soto of the Cubs, although Joey Votto will get some consideration.

In the AL, Evan Longoria should get the award nearly unanimously.

Cy Young Awards -- AL, no debate, really. Cliff Lee resurrected his career from the scrap heap this year and is an easy winner (with Roy Halladay a distant 2nd).

NL, Tim Lincecum? Brandon Webb? Johan Santana should get some consideration as well, but overall, I'd give it to Lincecum.

MVP -- AL, had the Twins made it to the playoffs, Justin Morneau would have been an easy choice for the award again, as he would have led the league in RBI. He didn't, they didn't and he will get some consideration, but I think Dustin Pedroia gets the award. The Red Sox don't win the WC without his contribution. In the

NL, there will be a lot of debate. Do you give the award to a guy that bats only .251 and struck out 199 times? Ryan Howard did just that, but drove in 146 runs and hit 48 homers. Albert Pujols is a better choice, statistically, but his team was out of the race in mid-September. Those are the 2 finalists, IMO and either one could win. I'd give it to Pujols, just because its him.

Come-back Player of the Year. AL, Cliff Lee should win, hands down.

in the NL, an argument could be made for Miguel Tejada, but Christian Guzman had better stats than he did and came from being nearly released by the Nats to being considered one of their building blocks for the future. I'd give it to Guzman.

I hope you don't mind but I edited your post a bit to make it a bit less jumbled together.

    Albert Pujols for MVP

    Tim Lincecum for Cy Young

If they don't win there's something wrong with the system. You can't give the MVP to someone who batted .251, just can't

Not only that but Brewcrewrock (I think that's who it was) also made a thread awhile back saying the Rays would be .500. Props to you two!

All right, not many people thought the Rays would make .500. I felt that they had a very strong nucleus and would be far better than they were last year.

I too had the Rays finishing over .500
Pujols/Youkilis- I thought Youkilis was more valuable
    Lincecum/Lee
Maddon/Cecil Cooper- Cooper raised the Stros from the dead and almost made it all the way back
