No hitter! They best turn it otherwise Yost will have a field day! Even the Pittsburgh fans cheered to clear it. This would be the first one in 21 years so give it to him! The man caught a ball bare handed for God sake for a DP...What more does a guy gotta do lol

It should have been an error, but I can't see them going back and changing this. He may not have gotten the no-hitter had he been facing the pressure of it as DK said.

you quote me, but I was just restating what DK said I didn't say what would happen one way or the other. I said he may not have gotten the no-hitter meaning it was one possible outcome.

I actually don't think it was an error. Yes he botched the pickup. But a) i dont think he would have had time, and b) it would have been a really tough turn and fire considering he was facing in the opposite direction of 1st base. Really no way MLB turns this one around.

LaRoche was only halfway down the base path when C.C., err, I mean CC was up and in throwing position with no baseball in his hand.

    He would have gotten him.

Shouldn't Yost be excited that Sabathia dominated again, brewers won, Sabathia is like 9-0 with a zillion complete games, etc. etc. I don't see how it should really matter, it doesn't justify anything we don't already know.

    Re: Hit or no hit?

I judge this as to whether I could have made the play and in this case, i could have easily made that play, therefore its an error and a no-hitter

I couldn't agree more. He has WAY bigger things to worry about. like.......a postseason race

I don't see how Yost being concerned about this detracts from his ability to be concerned about the playoff race.

not only does he not deserve it for this reason but what is the scoring if a player is indifferent?

CC didn't care about that play, why does he care so much now?

What gives you the impression he didn't care about the play?

    Re: Hit or no hit?

I think it would be silly to go back and change it. Yes Sabathia makes that play 9 times out of 10 but that's over and done with. Move on! I just think it would be silly to celebrate this days after it happened.

I'm not sure if anyone would celebrate it.

    Re: Hit or no hit?

I doubt they just say its a no-no and that's it. It was scored a hit in what the 4th inning? Shit happens. They got the win, Sabathia threw another gem. I think it should have been called an error but also think there is a silliness to changing after the fact.
