    Re: 2008 ASG Rosters

does anyone else think that too many pitchers make the all-star game? what's the use of voting a guy into the game if they're not going to pitch in it?

And I completely agree on both arguments in this thread. They need to get rid of the HFA deal, and they need to get rid of fan voting, period. Or at least make it worth a small percentage of the total. Player and manager votes should count for the bulk.

And I like how the managers pick some of the reserves...but definitely not the WS manager. It should be the guy who wins Manager of the Year on both sides.

The purpose is to try to avoid having the game end in a tie again. But it helps that Bob Brenly will never manage an All-Star game ever again.

Tek is only an All-Star cause he broke the MLB record for most no-hitters caught this season, HFA is fine, just cause the NL can't win doesn't mean its bad. The WS managers deserve to pick the reserve's they know what they are doing, and its better to have a team's manager who might be back at the WS than a non-contending manager. The reason for so many pitchers is that in their contracts they get bonuses for being selected to the All-Star game so for them is profitable to make it even if they can't pitch

Dye's numbers are too good to not vote for but Longoria really won me over in the Boston series. Damn.

the AL has the advantage for relief pitchers. The NL has the clear advantage in Starters. I'd take the worst NL starter over the best AL starter.

I think the NL has the best offense as well as far as starters go. It's not letting me vote for the final vote.

It means they have better teams, not players.

I wish Mussina was there. Oh well.

Yes but teams and players are totally different. Look at the lineups. Look at the stats. It all favors the NL and its not even debatable. Nice try though
