    Mets Washington Nationals: Bush League?

During last night's Mets v. Nationals game, the Nationals were seen cheering extremely loudly from the dugout. I don't mean after an RBI double, I mean as the pitch was coming in from the mound, as if they were fans. They continued to do it, and it was bad enough that both the SNY announcers(The brilliant Gary Cohen, along with Keith Hernandez)saw it as something that shouldn't even be in little league. Nelson Figueroa said later that they were "cheering like softball girls", and that it was extremely unprofessional, as well as a bit offensive to him.

Personally, I agree with Nelson, and it's not just because I'm a bitter Mets fan. The thing is, the guys that were cheering:
Elijah Dukes: 0 for 12 this year at the plate
Lastings Milledge: supposed to save the team, has a .260 avg and 11 RBI
Nick Johnson: hitting .220 in his return
Ryan Zimmerman: hitting .103 with runners in scoring position.

This team, as Nelson put it, is a last place team. And if this is the only way they can get motivated, then they're gonna end up with a bunch of fastballs upside their heads. I just love how everyone screams at the Mets and Yankees for Joba or Jose Reyes and their fist pumps or high fives...yet when it comes to the Nationals and THEIR bush league BS, everyone jumps on Figueroa calling him a whiner, and saying he's just being a little *****

The nationals should sign Terrance Long, so when he comes to bat, they can chant..

I'm very disappointed in my team, yes. But this is something that just doesn't really belong in the dugout of the Major Leagues....

    Re: Washington Nationals: Bush League?

I am torn on this issue. I am tired of players trying so hard to be professional in certain situations. I hate Manny staring down a homerun and I hate Joba fist pumping like crazy after striking out David Dellucci. I don't mind players cheering from the dugout as long as its not synchronized clapping, singing or chanting "hey batter, batter". If they are simply calling out "c'mon fiver, get a hit" or something along those lines I do not mind. There is a line between being good teammates and being bush. You can be a good sport and not show up anyone.

It was synchronized though. It was 10-15 players chanting "LETS GO MILLY LETS GO *CLAP CLAP*". So, I mean, it's a bit too far. It happened in the 3rd inning, as well as a few times afterwards

I think it's kinda funny actually.
I did a lot of good things as a sim league GM.

Ah, give me something clever to say here.

I mean, it kinda fits the way their team is just full of people who don't think before the act. Ask Lastings Milledge(2 counts of statutory rape), Elijah Dukes(beat up his girlfriend; been arrested 6 times), Ronnie Belliard(offered to pay a pregnant woman to keep quiet despite him being married).

I haven't heard so i take your word for it. That does sound bush and a little fruity. As long as they don't keep doing it, its OK. If they keep it up, expect their best hitter to be a huge target for Mets pitchers.

lol, I mean, I agree with Figueroa that it was immature and unnecessary. As long as he doesn't go as far as to blame them for his terrible pitching, I agree with him. I don't expect it to stop though, as Milledge was quoted as saying "We can't worry about what other teams say, we just want to get our players going"

Then Milledge can expect a 95 mph heater in the back soon.
