Not a Closer's night (and year)...

Closer seem tp be really struggling tonight and for the year in this first month. Seems like no closer is automatic any more.

    Blown saves tonight (4/23/08) alone:
    Wood-Cubs
    Hoffman-Padres
    Corpas-Rockies

Turnbow gets a save and Gagne is NOT used.

But you also have Mariano Rivera, Billy Wagner, and Joakim Soria all with ERA's of 0 and WHIP's under .60

Don't forget about Nathan. Perfect so far in save opportunities, 0.00 ERA, 0.88 WHIP this year.

Francisco Cordero is rarely used. All that money and for what?

But Hoffman is struggling this year as well. Brandon Lyon (AZ) doesnt scare anyone. Valverde in Houston off to a bad start in saves opportunities, but does have 3 wins. Rausch and Cordero in Washington struggle a lot.

Sherrill has been solid, even though the ERA isn't good. 7/7 or 7/8, or so. Looks like Seattle could use that when Putz went down.
