Brian Bocock, a kid who hasn't played above AA ball. He's got a good glove but no stick, much like Vizquel but 40 yrs younger.

Neither Wainwright or Francis had a good start yesterday. I blame the mound conditions. Plus it didn't matter.

Jon Garland only had to throw 95 pitches to get through 8 innings of one run ball in his debut with the Angels. Very impressive start!

No strikeouts in 8 innings. Bizarre performance by Garland but hey, he got the job done.

    Exactly why strikeouts are overrated.

plus strikeouts have a tendency to get that pitch count up quicker and if the pitcher is having a good day he probably will only go 6-7 innings also. I would rather have a pitcher average 2-3 k's a game and go 8+ innings a little more often. Some situations it is VERY handy to strikeout someone out, but I agree with reefer here, stirkeouts are over-rated.

strikeouts are overrated, but they sure are fun to watch. (if you're rooting for the team that's pitching at the time, anyways)

No doubt. Everyone loves to see dominance like that but it isn't necessary for a pitcher to succeed. Preventing runs in any fashion is what I want! Well for my team anyways.
