Yankees Players admitting to HGH/steroid use.

Since the release of the Mitchell Report, we have had Andy Pettitte, Brian Roberts, Gary Bennett, David Segui, F.P. Santangelo and Fernando Vina suddenly come clean and admitting to using either HGH or steroids, although most of these guys say they only used it for a few days. Sure.

We've also had Roger Clemens deny using it. Uh huh.

In any case, where were all these guys before? Who's going to come out of the closet next? More importantly, how does their coming clean make them look in your eyes? Better/worse?

Of course them owning up to it makes them look better. My girlfriend brought up a good point last night that made me think. What is so wrong about someone trying to do better at their job?

Are you asking what's wrong about someone trying to do better at their job....by taking HGH or steroids?

By doing anything possible including performance enhancing drugs. You enhance your performance in any walk of life and that's considered a good thing. Just made me think.

But doing so by unethical means isn't really that honorable. (not that it doesn't happen pretty much everywhere)

Although, I saw an HGH add in a magazine on the airplane while I was flying home last night.

Is HGH legal? And, if so, why is it a big deal that people take it in sports?

HGH is legal as long as you have a prescription for it for an authorized use. Kind of like Viagra.

It's so sad to think that F.P. Santangelo's 21 career home runs are tainted.

I think you should be allowed to shoplift as long as you don't affect corporate earnings.

You might want to explain to her the fine details of the law to her. Doing something to get better at your job is fine but doing it using illegal substances is different.

Adam LaRoche is using an illegal substance because he has a waiver stated he can use it because of a medical condition.

The notion that those players are coming clean doesn't mean shit when they are hiding behind the excuse that they used HGH and steroids to nurse a major injury. HGH doesn't accelerate regeneration of body tissue and muscle.

HGH does actually promote muscle (and bone) growth, which is why it is "normally" used for people who are extremely short. However, if you are a perfectly healthy person with a perfectly functioning body (or even just a minor injury), HGH has very little, if any effects on the body.

My key word was regeneration. HGH doesn't accelerate the timetable for damaged bone and muscle tissue to reheal itself.

But otherwise, everything else you've said is correct, as none of those players qualify as "extremely short." Even David Eckstein would have a hard time getting a legitimate prescription for HGH to help him grow.

All performing enhancing drugs aren't illegal. Rockin brought up having to have a prescription for Viagra but every pornstar now uses some kind of dick pill. People always look for an edge. It's just fun to look on the other side of an argument. What is so wrong with people enhancing their performance?

If you want to take this to a debate as to whether or not they should be legal I might agree with you to some extent.

But for now the stuff is illegal.
