Penny should be matched up with Chris Young, and Lowe = Maddux, assuming that Maddux doesn't repeat his stellar performance down the stretch for us. Randy Wolf doesn't get anywhere near the criticism for his crappy pitching that David Wells does, so that's good enough for me as a fan.

Yes, Hendrickson sucks...but to his credit he did post something like a 0.87 ERA after he saw that sports psychologist. He is worth at least a spot start if we need him there. I doubt Tomko will get any starts...but like I said he is there if we need him. And kuo's career splits (minor leagues and major leagues) in starts vs. relief is astounding. He is dominant when he starts. Obviously these arent hall of famers...but not many teams have capable 6th,7th, and 8th starters. Theres a good chance that if those three players were all on the nationals...they'd be locks for the starting rotation....but then again, thats the Nats.
Every team has 6th, 7th, and 8th starters. And pretty much every team uses them at some point in the season.

The Seattle Mariners, I forget which year though, are the only team to ever go an entire season using only 5 starting pitchers.

If I am not mistaking, the White Sox used only 5 starters in '05. Someone may know for sure, but I seem to remember hearing that.

They used 6 starters that year.

    Brandon McCarthy started 10 games.

Thanks, I book marked that site a long time ago. I just am too darn lazy to look crap up sometimes. I usually am pretty accurate with my trivia or facts. I have just been slipping the past couple years cause of a 3 1/2 year old running around all the time. I love that he is here though, the kid that is!!!

I understand that. A triple A staff is esentially the 6th, 7th, 8th, 9th, and 10th starters on a major league club. My argument is that these are some of the better 6th, 7th, and 8th starters in the league. Any one of those three could compete, and probably win a starting spot on a handful of other teams.

I'm not trying to build these guys up as a fantastic trio of pitchers...I'm just trying to get the point across that the dodgers have very good depth. Every team gets injuries...and its how well you are prepared for those injuries that get you to the playoffs...that, and playing good baseball of course. But if your team doesn't have any depth, then don't expect a good April to last very long.

How in the **** are the Braves the second most improved team? I agree the Dodgers will win the West but the Series? C'mon, every team was "better" than the Cards last year and look what happened.

That is why I love baseball, anything can happen.

Baseball is awesome. It is whoever gets hot in the post-season. I think that MLB has taken a page out of the NHL theory. Just get me there baby, and lets see what happens!!! In baseball, hot pitching!!! In hockey, hot goaltending!!! Even the NFL anymore is just get me there, look at my Steelers last year!!! #6 seed wins the Super Bowl!

The Steelers were better than a 6 seed last year.

They lost Roethlisberger for awhile and limped through the middle of the season.

When they got healthy again they showed how good they really were.
