    NL Cy Young?

This has not been discussed yet. Is it really going to go to freakin' Brad Penny, who's leading the league with 16 wins and happened to have started the All-Star game? Could they give it to Carpenter with that few # of wins? Are the voters going to pull an Eric Gagne and give it to Hoffman?

That few? He only has two less than Penny, but then again, I am not picking based on wins. I think Carpenter SHOULD be the favorite, ERA leader, been the least hittable of most of the canidates you hear of starters (Penny, Webb, etc), leading the league in WHIP at 1.04, solid K/9, will be over the 200 inning mark. But to be honest, no one has been so dominant that I really care.

Carpenter doesn't have much in his way.
Webb won't be in the playoffs, Zambrano is on a real bad team, and there hasn't been a dominate closer this season in the N.L.

I don't think he neccesarily should get it, (especially not soley because of this.) but I think Trevor stands a good shot at it if he breaks Lee Smith's record this year.

The voters have done crazier things before.

What more is there to say? They have 1 good team in the league and the prospects for CY are just pathetic.

Carpenter due to what everyone has already said. Cy Young winners do not have to be on playoff teams as it is for the best overall pitcher. NL is horrible? Didn't the AL have Colon as a CY Young winner?

Webb and Zambrano don't have stats that put them well ahead of Carpenter. When it comes down to a fine line, voters will take the pitcher on a playoff team over teams that failed to make it.

OMG DayPoe es teh moron for traydin LowDookah!!111 lolwtfbbq

Seriously? Carp, Webb, Oswalt are all good choices. Arroyo should get credit for pitching in Cincy with more innings than most of the other guys.

LOL@ NL being horrible? Great couldn't expect anything less from NY fans. Good logic you base on your conclusion on the number of cy young candidates , you should start watching more NL baseball.

The fact that Carlos Zambrano can get 14 (or 15?) wins with the Cubs this year is pretty impressive.
