Frank Thomas is more of a candidate than Chavez.

There already is a Roberto Clemente award, it's given to a player in baseball as a "best contributions to the community".

The Hank Aaron Award is given to the best hitter in the game.

No a pitcher should not be considerd for the MVP as thhey don't play every day. Santana is the best pitcher in baseball but someone has to drive in runs for him to get a win or else he would be like Roger Clemens. Since June 8th, the Twins have the best record in baseball and Santana only pitches every fifth day. Morneau has the best BA since June 8th.

What is it with underqualified Twins MVP candidates? This is Shannon Stewart all over again.

Well, Morneau has really quieted down as far as his HR's go in the past month, but he's still steady-as-she-goes for batting and RBI's.

I'd love to see him win the MVP. As far as I'm concerned, it's down to only two guys in the AL, that being Morneau and Jeter. Unfortunately, Jeter will probably end up getting it based simply on who he is and where he's playing (I hope I'm wrong). Ortiz doesnt' even deserve to be mentioned as far as I'm concerned. Great, he's got a bunch of HR's on a team that's going no where and he can barely bat his weight.

So, if it's up to me, I vote 1,2,3 in order: Morneau, Jeter and then possibly Dye.

It's too bad Mauer cooled off as much as he has in the past 6-8 weeks. He had an incredible run for about 2 months

Jeter will probably get it since he's an up-the-middle player for a winning team who also happens to be the best position player in the AL this year.

Morneau went 5-5 tonight including a pair of doubles.

That's because the Red Sox have quit.

Looks like Jeter's going to get the MVP, with probably Morneau second and then Dye then Mauer.

How does a team quitting, dampen the fact that he went 5-5.
If I was the manager, I just tip the hat and say good game, he was on tonight, and my guys didn't have it. If I find out that my team has quit, and that is the reason guy goes 5-5, well than I got a reason to be sassed. I don't want anyone on my team that doesn't give it their all, no matter what the situation.

The guy still went 5-5 against a really good team.

And I'am not arguing on behalf of Morneau because he is Canadian, like me.
