    History Kevin Elster = legendary

Article looking back on Pac Bell Park's first ever regular season game from 10 years ago.
In the regular-season home opener 10 days later, a 6-5 Dodgers victory, 35-year-old Los Angeles shortstop Kevin Elster hit three home runs, two off Rueter and one off Felix Rodriguez. Only four times in 12 previous seasons had Elster hit two in a game.

Elster batted eighth in the game. According to F.P. Santangelo, a Dodger that year, Elster had been out drinking until 3 that morning because he did not know he was starting.
That, I did not know. Babe Ruth and Hack Wilson would be proud.

So he likely was hungover when he hit 3 homeruns in one game. Adds to his mystique. He's also an accomplished actor!

Also, David Wells, who threw that perfect game while hung over. Or so he claims.
