Has some of the filthiest southpaw stuff in the Dodgers’ farm system, but also has control/command issues. A fastball-slider pitcher who is working on a changeup, drawing comparisons to Scott Kazmir, but is gopher-ball prone. Pitched out of the bullpen some this season and showed some life, punching out 20 and walking 7 in 19 IP. However, he did also allow 4 HR, which inflated his ERA to 5.03. Normalize for “luck” and his xFIP is just 3.60. If he develops a passable changeup, it could dramatically improve his numbers, as righties have slugged .566 off of him in his short Major League career, 128 points better than lefty bats. If not anything else, Elbert could become an interesting setup option next year in an already strong bullpen. Given 80 innings, Elbert is capable of putting up a line of 5-0-75-4.47-1.48
