    Dodgers Dodgers sign Jamey Carroll

Glad it was the Dodgers and not the Reds. Not that I have anything specifically against Carroll, I just didn't want to trade a Harang or an Arroyo and use the freed up salary on a 36 year old player.

Dodgers need to replace what they are losing on the bench I guess.

LOS ANGELES -- The Dodgers bolstered their second-base situation by agreeing to a two-year contract with versatile infielder Jamey Carroll, pending a physical examination, agent Jonathan Maurer confirmed Wednesday.

Maurer would not confirm the salary, but it is believed to be $3.85 million, plus incentives. He said Carroll turned down potentially more money from the Oakland A's "to play for what he considers to be two Hall of Famers -- [manager] Joe Torre and [batting coach] Don Mattingly."

Carroll hit .273 and played in 93 games with Cleveland this season, accumulating 315 at-bats while earning $2.5 million. He previously played with Montreal, Washington and reached the World Series with Colorado in 2007.

That's 3.85 total right, not per year?

3.85 total. That guy just might be the new starting second baseman, unless Blake DimWitt proves his subpar year in AAA was the result of a BABIP below his norm. It's a damn shame these are the replacements for the O-Dawg.
