    Dodgers DeWitt Sent Down?

According to the Los Angeles Daily News, the Dodgers have sent Blake DeWitt to Triple-A and called up Juan Castro.
Castro would have been kept over DeWitt originally, but the Dodgers didn't have a 40-man roster spot for him. The Daily News guesses that they found one by trading Delwyn Young, perhaps to the Indians, Pirates or Phillies.
Sent down for Juan Castro? What exactly is the thinking behind this move? Wonder if this is true and if they did in fact trade Young.

Well idk where else the Dodgers could have gotten the 40 man roster spot so I would think the trade of Young is the answer to that

Dodgers activated outfielder Delwyn Young from the 15-day disabled list and designated him for assignment.
The move opens a needed spot on the 40-man roster. Young was on a rehabilitation assignment at Triple-A Albuquerque while recovering from offseason elbow surgery.
    That explains that.

Juan Castro: great guy, pretty lousy ballplayer. I don't know why the Dodgers would want to make a spot for him on the 40 man roster, but let's hope it is as a 25th man type role.

Castro is the token Hispanic backup utility infielder. Blake Dewitt has potential, so he needs the everyday at-bats in the minors. Losing Delwyn Young sucks, but JP's to blame on that front.

DeWitt got called up again after Mientkiewicz dislocated his shoulder and will be out at least until July. Of course it had to occur after Delwyn Young was already traded. But at least this latest callup means Castro won't get the chance to hit.

****, nevermind, Castro got the start at shortstop today. Never underestimate Joe Torre's favoritism.

    From Memories of Kevin Malone:
Blake DeWitt|3B/2B|24|DWL-Ugh, what the hell is he doing? He has a .206/.308/.235/.543 line through 12 games in the Dominican, and I can already picture Ned Colletti trading Chris Withrow to the Mets for Luis Castillo. Barf.
should have traded DimWitt instead of Tony Abreu for those 8 starts from Garland. Mother****er.

Blake DimWitt is a scrub. This man cannot play in the big leagues.

Why run to first when you can trot? So says Adam Dunn.

    Re: DeWitt Sent Down?

I recall Dewitt was included in the Adrian Gonzalez-to-LA trade rumor from last year's deadline. While I personally think it was BS, it would not surprise me if the Pads did try to get Dewitt somehow, at the request of our old pal DePo.
