Not a bad backup for the Dodgers. He will be more useful than Mike Lieberthal.According to Ken Rosenthal, free agent Brad Ausmus has spurned the Padres to sign a one-year, $1 million deal with the Dodgers.
It's hard to blame Ausmus. He'll be on a better team and hardly have to do anything at all as Russell Martin's backup. For the Padres, he would have had to suit up twice a week and help teach Nick Hundley. The Dodgers can now go ahead and drop Danny Ardoin from the 40-man roster. It's incredible that they carried him as long as they did.
