The Dodgers are showing interest in Ronnie Belliard and Esteban German in their quest for infield help, says FOXSports.com's Ken Rosenthal.
Those two would be much easier on the budget than either Brandon Inge or Joe Crede. The Dodgers would have room for a more expensive infielder if they were able to move Esteban Loaiza's contact, but it looks like they'll need Loaiza with Jason Schmidt set to start the season on the DL. The Nationals maintain that they have Belliard penciled in at second, but they'd almost surely move him for the right prospect and then maybe go with Bret Boone as Felipe Lopez's backup. The Royals can trade German after acquiring a similar talent in Alberto Callaspo.
I don't see how these players help the Dodgers at third. I do like Belliard's bat but don't think he is a good option at third. Inge would be the best bet with his stellar defense and his potential power. The Tigers could use Loaiza and maybe another bullpen arm.
