If the Angels can't sign Konerko, they might set their sights on Boston Red Sox slugger Manny Ramirez, who reportedly has requested a trade.

Riverside Press Enterprise (registration required): As expected, the Angels have contacted slugger Paul Konerko's agent as the first baseman heads toward free agency.

He may have to catch or pitch as they're going to lose Molina and Washburn if they sign Konerko due to budget.

What happened to that good Cuban prospect? His name is escaping me but I think its Morales? Ken Williams would be dumb as hell not to resign Konerko. If I were Konerko's agent, I would send a tape of Konerko hitting that GS in the World Series and lable the tape "$$$$$$".

Kendry Morales is the Cuban, he has talent, but has somewhat dissapointed and isn't anywhere near ready. And Jeff Mathis is supposedly ready to take over the catcher spot for the Angels. They've got so much young talent it's scary.
